The Coffee Route is a new tourism product in Honduras that highlights the coffee-growing landscape and the processes involved in coffee cultivation, processing, and consumption across the six producing regions. This initiative has been spearheaded by the Honduran Coffee Institute (IHCAFE) and the Honduran Institute of Tourism (IHT), and has received technical support from IICA to strengthen the capacities of the producers participating in the Route. The first phase, launched in 2015, included farms in the departments of La Paz, Intibucá, Lempira, Santa Bárbara, Ocotepeque, and Copán in western Honduras, which offer coffee tastings, adventure sports, and nature activities, among other services. Starting in 2016, the Route was expanded to the departments of El Paraíso and Olancho, where high-quality coffee is also grown. (Participant: Marvin Blanco)
